LEIDEN – Starting Sunday, May 4, live music will once again fill Leidse Hout every week. The beloved Sunday Afternoon Concerts at the Waterlelie bandstand situated near the park’s teahouse mark the beginning of a summer-long celebration of music. The open-air concerts are free and take place every Sunday from May through September.
In the heart of the park, the charming Waterlelie stage becomes a meeting spot for music lovers of all ages.
Opening Concerts in May
The first Sunday sets the tone for a season full of variety and warmth:
- 1:30 PM – ‘Noyana’ Singing for Your Life Choir (Leiden)
This choir welcomes individuals affected by cancer, offering a safe and expressive space through song. Singing helps release emotions such as fear, sadness, and anger, and brings connection, strength, and joy. With heartfelt songs and a compassionate atmosphere, Noyana delivers a moving performance. - 2:45 PM – Di Krenitse, Leiden Klezmer Band
Infectious Jewish wedding music and Yiddish songs that invite you to sing along or dance. Rooted in the traditions of Eastern European Jewish communities, klezmer has evolved into a rich and lively genre. Di Krenitse brings both instrumental energy and lyrical stories from the Jewish cultural world.
The following Sunday, May 11 at 1:30 PM, features Harmonie Orchestra Werkmans Wilskracht, bringing a cheerful mix of classical and contemporary pieces.
Every Sunday, the park turns into a stage for discovery, connection, and relaxation. Whether you stay for one set or the entire afternoon, the Sunday Afternoon Concerts are a highlight of the Leiden summer.
