This week, I wrote an article about the Sinterklaas events hosted by playground associations in Leiden. These gatherings are open to everyone and provide a wonderful opportunity to bring together people of all ages. The process was surprisingly simple: one email to the playgrounds, and within no time, the responses came flooding in. A small effort, big reward—and hopefully valuable for the readers.
At the same time, I attempted to create a similar piece about police campaigns regarding fireworks. That didn’t go as smoothly. Community officers aren’t allowed to speak directly to the press, and the police spokespeople were still busy organizing a media session on fireworks. The result? No article about the arrival of the Mobile Media Lab in Stevenshof tomorrow.
A big shoutout to the volunteers at the playground associations for showing how easy collaboration can be. As for the police spokespeople, I understand the need for rules, but a little extra flexibility could go a long way. It’s a pity when that doesn’t happen.
